Applications and products

Today, Utensil Centro has an extensive catalogue of polycrystalline diamond products for machining not only wood and wood derivatives, but also plastics, PVC and aluminium.

The catalogue includes pantograph cutters, contouring and grooving cutters, edgebanding cutters, hoggers for square edgebanding machines, circular saw blades and mechanical fixing cutters. Each product in the catalogue is designed to enable the accurate and precise processing of the materials used in the relevant industry.

Characteristics of polycrystalline diamond tools

Polycrystalline diamond tools offer a longer working life than other cutting materials, such as tungsten carbide.

Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) is created in the laboratory through a sintering process, during which synthetic diamond particles are combined with a tungsten carbide base using a catalyst. This method produces a diamond with a high cutting quality and excellent resistance to wear.

The main technical characteristics of polycrystalline diamond are:

  • High hardness
  • Abrasion resistance
  • Excellent robustness
  • High degree of mechanical strength
  • Excellent thermal conductivity

These characteristics make it ideal for machining materials such as chipboard, MDF/HDF, laminates and bilaminates, carbon fibre, fibreglass, aluminium and its alloys.

Advantages of using polycrystalline diamond tools

The hardness of polycrystalline diamond makes it an exceptional cutting material, extending tool life, reducing production costs and ensuring superior end-product quality.

In addition to these qualities, polycrystalline diamond tools offer another significant advantage: their ability to be sharpened several times. This feature not only prolongs tool life but also reduces operating and production costs.

Sharpening tools allows optimum performance to be maintained, reducing the need for frequent tool changes and as a result, contributing to greater economic efficiency in the long term.

This versatility makes polycrystalline diamond tools an even more advantageous choice for companies, which can benefit from increased profitability through more sustainable resource management.
